Les travaux de réalisation de 33 stations de traitement des déchets ménagers au niveau des Centres d’enfouissement techniques (CET) à travers plusieurs wilayas s’achèveront au cours de l’année, a annoncé ce mardi 5 janvier à Alger, le directeur général de l’Agence nationale des déchets, Karim Ouamane.
Dans une déclaration à l’APS, M. Ouamane a précisé que ces stations, dont la réalisation a nécessité une enveloppe de 7 milliards de dinars, permettront de réduire les risques que présentent les déchets ménagers pour l’environnement et la santé publique.
Les travaux de réalisation ont beaucoup avancé, a ajouté le responsable, précisant que 24 stations sur 33 sont d’ores et déjà installées au niveau des Centres d’enfouissement technique et entreront bientôt en service.
Ces stations s’inscrivent dans le cadre de la stratégie du ministère de l’Environnement, initiateur du projet avec un financement du Fonds national de l’environnement et du littoral (FNEL).
Il s’agit, selon M. Ouamane, de transformer 1 million de mètres cubes de lixiviats en eau pouvant être utilisée pour l’irrigation des terres agricoles ou servir à d’autres usages, notamment industriel.
Ces stations sont réalisées dans 33 wilayas, notamment dans les zones côtières et les Hauts Plateaux à forte densité de population, soumises à de fortes pluies et produisant d’importantes quantités de déchets, autant de facteurs favorisant la production de grandes quantités de lixiviats, a expliqué le responsable.
Le projet, lancé en 2018, a été retardé à cause de l’épidémie de Covid-19, mais les efforts vont bon train pour le parachever et livrer toutes les stations au cours de l’année, a assuré M. Ouamane.
